Child Nutrition Programme
Protect the youngest and most vulnerable children from the lasting harm of malnutrition.
Project overview
Hunger is dangerous for everyone, but for a child under five it can cause damage that lasts a lifetime. Malnutrition in the earliest years stunts growth, weakens immunity and impairs development in ways that are hard to reverse. The Child Nutrition Programme is a targeted response to protect exactly these children.
The programme starts with screening. Our nutrition officers measure young children and identify those who are malnourished or at risk, along with pregnant and nursing mothers whose own nutrition shapes their babies' health. Early detection is what allows us to intervene before a child reaches crisis.
For those who need it, we provide therapeutic and supplementary feeding — specialised infant formula where breastfeeding is not possible, fortified foods, and ready-to-use nutrient pastes that treat malnutrition directly. Mothers receive nutrition counselling and support so gains are sustained at home, not lost after a single distribution.
By combining screening, treatment and follow-up, this project does more than fill empty stomachs — it safeguards the health and development of a generation at the most critical stage of their lives, when the right nourishment changes everything.
