Emergency Food Distribution

Get nourishing food into the hands of families who do not know where their next meal is coming from.

Project overview

Emergency Food Distribution is the fast-moving heart of our hunger response. When markets collapse and prices soar, families who once fed themselves are left with nothing — and the gap between hunger and a hot meal has to be measured in hours, not weeks.

Our teams run two complementary tracks. Ready-to-eat parcels and cooked meals reach families the same day through community kitchens and shelter distributions, while monthly staple parcels — flour, rice, lentils, oil, tinned protein, dates and salt — give households the means to cook for themselves and keep a little dignity in a desperate time.

Logistics is what makes this possible. We pre-position stock close to the communities we serve, coordinate with local authorities to reach the families in greatest need first, and buy from Palestinian farmers, bakers and suppliers wherever we can so that every donated dollar strengthens the local economy as it feeds a family.

Distribution is never random. Nutrition officers flag the most vulnerable — infants, pregnant and nursing mothers, the elderly and people with disabilities — so that the households at greatest risk are reached first, and no parcel is wasted.

Objectives

  • Distribute monthly staple parcels that feed a family of six
  • Pre-position stock to cut the time from donation to delivery

Frequently asked questions

How quickly does food reach families after I donate?
Because we pre-position stock and work through partners already on the ground, cooked meals and parcels often reach families within days. Our average time from donation to delivery is measured in days, not weeks.
What is in a monthly food parcel?
A standard parcel contains flour, rice, lentils, cooking oil, tinned protein, dates and salt — culturally appropriate staples chosen to sustain a family of six for around a month and give them the means to cook for themselves.
Do you buy food locally?
Wherever supply and access allow, yes. Buying from Palestinian farmers, bakers and traders means your gift feeds a family and supports the local economy at the same time, and it keeps food culturally familiar.
