Project overview
When a neighbourhood's water network fails, the search for something to drink becomes a daily emergency. Our Build Clean Water Wells project answers that emergency with something permanent: purpose-built boreholes and rehabilitated wells that draw on the safest available groundwater and treat it to a standard families can trust.
Each well is more than a hole in the ground. Our engineers survey the site, drill to a depth that reaches a viable aquifer, install a solar-powered pump so supply does not depend on fragile fuel deliveries, and fit filtration and chlorination so what comes out is genuinely safe to drink. A protected apron and a community tap-stand keep the source clean long after our team has moved on.
We prioritise sites that serve the most people for the least cost — displacement shelters, dense residential blocks, schools and clinics. A single community well can serve hundreds of households, replacing expensive, unreliable trucked water with a source families control themselves.
Sustainability sits at the heart of this project. Every well is handed over to a trained local water committee who monitor quality, manage the tap-stand rota and carry out small repairs, with our team providing spare parts and technical backup. The result is infrastructure that keeps giving for years, not weeks.
