The situation
When water networks fail, disease follows. Families in overcrowded shelters are forced to drink unsafe water, and children — always the most vulnerable — pay the highest price through outbreaks of preventable waterborne illness.
Our water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) programme trucks safe drinking water daily to shelters and neighbourhoods cut off from supply, installs and fuels small-scale desalination and purification units, and distributes family hygiene kits with soap, chlorine tablets, and water containers.
We also fund emergency latrine construction and repairs in displacement sites, because sanitation is inseparable from safe water — one protects the other.
Water is life in its most literal form. A single truck delivery can protect hundreds of families for days. Few gifts do more good, faster.
