Jordanian Charities Helping Gaza: JHCO, Tkiyet Um Ali, the Red Crescent and More
Who the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization, Tkiyet Um Ali and the Jordan Red Crescent are, what they say they do for Gaza, and how to check a charity.
In this article
The Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO, الهيئة الخيرية الأردنية الهاشمية) is the Jordanian organisation most people mean when they ask how to send aid to Gaza from Jordan. Founded in Amman in 1990, it runs a campaign for Gaza that has organised land convoys and an air bridge since October 2023. Tkiyet Um Ali and the Jordan National Red Crescent Society also work for families from Gaza, in different ways.
This guide gives a short, factual entry for each, taken from the organisation's own website, so you can tell them apart and find the right site. It is not a ranking, we do not rate anyone, and we are not affiliated with any of them. At the end there is a checklist you can apply to any charity, including us.
Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO)
JHCO describes itself as a national, non-governmental, non-profit charitable institution working inside and outside Jordan, with a particular focus on emergency relief in disasters. Its history page says it was founded on 10 January 1990, growing out of a national committee chaired by Prince El Hassan bin Talal from 1985. Its main office is in Khalda, Amman, and it lists warehouses in Mafraq and Al-Ghabawi. Its board of trustees is chaired by Prince Rashid bin El Hassan.
JHCO says its campaign for Gaza, called "لأهلنا في غزة" (For our people in Gaza), has run since 7 October 2023 in coordination with official Palestinian bodies and local and international partners. It lists an air bridge from Marka airport in Amman to Al-Arish in Egypt, regular land convoys of medical, food and relief supplies, and projects inside Gaza with partners: food baskets, clean water, hot meals, hygiene kits and bakeries that distribute bread to displaced families.
Its work for Gaza is older than this war. JHCO's Palestine page describes a land supply bridge from Amman to Gaza after the 2008 war and says it keeps the Jordanian military field hospital in Gaza supplied with medicines and ambulances. Its donations page lists a Gaza category and local ways to give, including a CliQ alias, eFAWATEERcom, a bank account in dinars and mobile wallets. Its website is jhco.org.jo.
Tkiyet Um Ali
Tkiyet Um Ali (تكية أم علي) is a non-profit, non-governmental charitable association registered with Jordan's Ministry of Social Development. Its website says it was founded in 2003 by Princess Haya bint Al Hussein in commemoration of the late Queen Alia Al Hussein, and that its headquarters are on Al-Jaish Street in the Al-Mahatta area of Amman. In Jordan it delivers monthly food parcels to families it has approved, and serves daily hot meals at its headquarters.
For Gaza, Tkiyet Um Ali says it took part in food convoys with JHCO in 2009 and 2014, and that between 2023 and 2025 it delivered food parcels, winter coats and blankets to families in Gaza. In March 2026 it reported completing 1,000 tents in shelter units across Gaza City, Jabalia, Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis, and in May 2026 it launched a recovery programme for children in Gaza covering education, school meals and psychosocial support. It says this work is done in coordination with JHCO.
Its site lists many ways to give locally, among them CliQ, eFAWATEERcom, mobile wallets and bank transfer, and a page for Zakat that reaches both Jordan and Gaza. Its website is tua.jo.
Jordan National Red Crescent Society
The Jordan National Red Crescent Society (الهلال الأحمر الأردني) describes itself as a voluntary, non-governmental humanitarian relief organisation that helps people impartially and without discrimination. Its website says it was founded on 27 December 1947, was recognised by the International Committee of the Red Cross in 1948 and is a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Its head office is on Prince Hassan Street in Ashrafieh, Amman, where it also runs the Red Crescent Hospital.
Its Gaza work, as its own news describes it, is medical care in Jordan for children evacuated from Gaza. A June 2026 item describes a project funded by Japan through the IFRC that covers surgery, intensive care and medicines for these children, ambulance transport between crossings and hospitals, a prosthetic limb unit at its Amman hospital that gives priority to children from Gaza, and psychosocial support. The domain to check is jnrcs.org.
The Jordanian field hospitals in Gaza
Many people in Jordan know the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza (المستشفى الميداني الأردني). It is not a charity: it is run by the Royal Medical Services of the Jordan Armed Forces. The Royal Hashemite Court has said the Gaza field hospital has operated under royal directives since 2009, and in May 2026 the Petra news agency reported a new staff rotation arriving at the southern Gaza field hospital.
If you see a fundraiser that claims to collect money for the field hospitals, check who is behind it. As noted above, JHCO says it supplies the hospital with medicines and ambulances.
Sending Zakat to Gaza through Jordanian organisations
Jordan's General Iftaa Department issued a fatwa on 19 October 2023 saying that Zakat may be moved to another country when there is a general and urgent need, as in Gaza, and that charities may be appointed to distribute it. The fatwa recommended sending it through the Jordan Hashemite Charity Organization. Tkiyet Um Ali also says Zakat given through its Zakat programme can reach Gaza in cooperation with JHCO.

How to check a charity before you give from Jordan
The same few checks work for a large national body and a small group on social media.
- Type the web address yourself or follow it from an official source. Look-alike pages and accounts copy the names of well-known charities, especially during emergencies.
- Pay only through the channels listed on the organisation's own website. A CliQ alias or account number sent to you in a message is not proof of anything.
- Ask who the organisation is registered with. Jordanian charities, such as Tkiyet Um Ali, say they are registered with the Ministry of Social Development, which also licenses donation collection in Jordan.
- Read what the organisation says it does, in specifics: where it works in Gaza, through whom, and what it delivered. Vague promises are a warning sign.
- Be wary of pressure and of campaigns that use photos of suffering to rush you. A genuine charity will still be there tomorrow and will answer your questions.
- For fundraisers run by individuals, ask how the money reaches Gaza and whether anyone you trust can vouch for them.
Where Fight for Palestine fits
Fight for Palestine is an independent organisation, not affiliated with any of the organisations above or with any Jordanian public body. We fund emergency aid in Gaza through local partner teams, who are checked before funds move: food parcels and hot meals, clean water, medical aid, shelter and winter items. We accept donations in cryptocurrency only, through our donate page, so if you want to give in dinars or by CliQ, the Jordanian organisations above are the place to do it.
Hold us to the same checklist. Our guide on how to donate to Gaza safely goes through the checks in more detail, donate to Gaza from Jordan covers the questions donors in Jordan ask, and our Zakat page explains how Zakat gifts are handled. If you give in crypto, check the rules that apply to you in Jordan first. What matters is that help reaches families in Gaza.
